Solar Power

2018 is going to be a monumental year for green technologies. We have hit a point where climate change has been globally recognized by most of the world’s political communities. And up until now, green technology has been expensive and in most cases inaccessible. In 2018, that is going to change. Scientists have been making amazing strides to advance these 3 technologies to make them more accessible, more affordable, and more likely to be in your life.

  1. Power Analyzer Software

Power Analyzer Software

Power Analyzing software is one of those geeky technologies that will revolutionize your home and your business’s electrical efficiency. This technology, in essence, is an electrical power quality module that allows you to monitor your power distribution internally. It assists in identifying power issues within your technology that can lead to the premature failure of drives, controllers, motors, and more.

The electrical toroids in the power analyzer are added directly to the machine power lines or directly to other power lines to monitor current conditions within the machine continuously and automatically. The data, which is collected on a 24/7 basis, is sent through an internal datahub and sent to your router, which is then analyzed on cloud-based servers. Companies such as MachineSense are taking massive strides in this field to make these technologies more available. Their guide to power analysis covers the in-depth versatility and capability of this rising tech.

Power analyzing technology is being developed and used to make everyday systems (such as heating/water systems) more efficient by wasting less electricity. Simply put, power analyzer software gathers data and then uses it to reduce your electricity consumption.

  1. Solar Power

Solar Power

Solar power has been the rising star amongst green technologies over the last few decades. However, in 2018 it is scheduled to make monumental leaps. Despite President Trump’s attempts to revive the coal industry, coal power plants are still in a precarious situation where they are retiring at surprising rates. This is where solar power comes in.

Each coal plant that retires has a certain power production capacity that legally needs to replaced. With each coal plant that retires, utilities build out more solar factories to replace that lost power capacity. Over the last few years, coal plants have been utilized less and less making them less profitable. To make matters worse for coal plants, solar technology is only going to keep decreasing in price where coal is only to get more expensive to operate.

Combine coal’s precarious market position along with solar’s stellar technological advancements and you bring it full loop. 2018 could be the year where coal collapses and solar booms.

  1. Electric, Hydrogen, and Hybrid Vehicles

Electric vehicle

Electric auto technology has taken the spotlight over the last few years. And the leading companies pioneering this tech are not slowing down.

In 2017, Tesla came out with the Model 3 and supplied it to all 40,000 people who pre-ordered one. And In 2018, the production of these cars is expected to rise to over 10,000 per week.

The Chevy Bolt has risen in popularity due in part to its reasonable price tag. This earth-friendly machine offers 238 miles on a single charge and only costs around $37,000 as opposed to Tesla’s $35,000 starting range.

It doesn’t make sense that the Tesla would cost less than the Chevy and here’s the reason why. You can’t walk into a Tesla dealership and buy one like you can with the Chevy Bolt. While Tesla still leads the electric auto market, Chevy has made their vehicles more accessible.

This car certainly packs a punch and one of the most noteworthy features of the Chevy Bolt is the one-pedal driving. When you are in low mode at any speed, all you need to do is lift your foot off of the accelerator to come to a complete stop. This results in less brakes used, less energy wasted, and it increases your range.

A Spectacular Year For Green

Green products are going to take over. In reality, there is no other option than for green to win. Those Chevy Bolt EV’s are going to be cheaper than gas-powered cars and could go over 200,000 units in the U.S. this year alone. Replacing gas-burning cars with eco-friendly cars can greatly impact the levels of CO2 in the atmosphere. Advancements in solar technology and power analyzer software will dramatically reduce electricity consumption. Overall, we are looking at a greener year and a brighter future.
