Video: Cattle Abuse
Sick or injured cattle are being handled by forklifts or bulldozers and are being shoved or dragged along the floor. Watching this video from the Humane Society details that these sickened cows were being fed to school children through the National School Lunch Program.

Downed cattle may pose a higher risk of contamination from E. coli, salmonella or mad cow disease because they typically wallow in feces and their immune systems are often weak. The health risks are there and the USDA cannot regulate this. The only thing that can be done is to strengthen animal abuse laws to scare these people into treating cattle better.
These types of conditions are simply unacceptable. The people that raise these cows obviously don't care about the animals and only want to make as much profit as possible. It is my hope that more videos come out to shame other farmers that raise livestock into treating the animals with respect. Even though these animals are going to the slaughterhouse does not mean they can be tortured. Decide for yourself what you consider is ethical.
