Veal: Causes Greenhouse Gases?

Producing one kilo of cut veal produces as much greenhouse gas emissions as traveling 137 miles by car. However, meat from non ruminants turns out to be more environmentally friendly.

According to a study by a Swiss environmental ratings agency in 2007, The US group Tyson Foods produces nearly as much greenhouse gas emissions as a major car manufacturer. The full life cycle of products of producing veal was taking into account which included items like forest clearance for grazing land, emissions from cattle feed,

meat processing and the large amounts of methane naturally produced by cattle.

VEAL IS NOT GOURMET!

Veal may be more appealing to some while looking over a menu because it's known to be a "gourmet" meat and also it's low in fat. During the young calves brief lives, they never see the sun or touch the Earth. They never see or taste the grass. Their bodies are anemic to get the desired pale look. Their muscles ache for freedom and exercise.

The real issue is the calves experience. I want people to be aware of these innocent baby cows that are put through these conditions and are seen in everyday life as tender cutlets. As a former waitress at an Italian restaurant I noticed veal was an important menu item and popular choice by lots of people. I'm ashamed to have once served it after learning more about all the down falls of producing it and eating it.
