Energy Efficient LED Holiday Lights

led christmas lights

Surprise everyone, whether you believe it or not, the holidays are coming around the corner. How can you tell? When holiday merchandise are just now getting stocked at your local Walmart or supermarket chainstore. Well this post is aimed at getting those who choose to celebrate the holidays with lighting, that you do so in an environmentally friendly way. LED Christmas lights, are way energy efficient and have a whole list of benefits over their incandescent counterparts. Here are some major reasons why you should make the switch:

1.) 90% more efficient over incandescent lighting
2.) extremely durable by means of tough plastic
3.) safe, LED’s operate at 1 degree over ambient temp.
4.) LED lighting will last up to 50,000 hours long
5.) Environmentally friendly by means of energy efficiency

The website is now offering a 10% off as pre-season sale on orders of $50. The LED lights also come with a full lifetime warranty so you can have peace of mind that they will last you for a very long time. With energy saving environmental LED lighting, the amount of energy you save will pay for the cost of the lights over time. These cool holiday lights are really a win win for everyone.

To help you save even more energy, there is a device called a conserve socket. It is made by Belkin, and it is a product designed to plug in electronics that you want to stop vampire energy from being used or to time your electronics so they aren’t running 24 hours a day. My suggestion is that you make this a part of your holiday setup if you are planning on setting up lights. That way you can plug your lighting into this socket, and press the button to keep the lights on for a few hours while you’re awake, but then they turn off after certain amount of time. This will help keep your electricity bills down during the holidays in addition to using LED lighting over incandescent.

In all reality, it is my opinion that putting up holiday lights is nothing but a big waste of energy. However, if you do put up lights this year, please make the eco-friendly choice and use energy efficient LED’s instead.

Can you get these lights at Wal-Mart? Now, that would be a trip. I'm with you on the irrelevancy of Xmas lights, but it's always great to have an eco-friendly option. If you have a chance, check out my blog post today on Retail Design Diva about major retailers who are taking major steps to help the environment. Office Depot reduced its carbon emissions by 10%! It's pretty encouraging.http://retaildesigndiva.blogs.com/And if you know of retailers that are making environmentally friendly changes, be sure to leave a comment and let us know.-Heather :)

Hi! I'm writing in from the Voxant Newsroom. It's about time that Christmas lights are "led-ing" the way to lessen carbon footprints. These new lights not only last long, but are bust-proof as well. Here's related news from the Voxant Newsroom. I love Christmas lights but the waste of energy is too much so I never put them up. This LED thing could be promising. I happen to catch that Living with Ed show this past weekend and he was putting up solar Christmas lights with Bruce Vilanch and they were very cool. Thought you might like to read about them.http://www.livingwithed.net/eguide.asp?CID=17&xepisode=Season%202

That's amazing, seems like they got everything on Energy Conservation, I wouldn't mind getting those LED Holiday Lights. Also, I hope this isn't TOO off topic, but it does involve energy efficient lights.I made a post about this in MY blogI entitled it: This Bulb which talks about the replacement of the typical household bulb, plus a link to the video of a National Geographic Clip promoting the bulb.Very interesting.Tony, Blogmaster of his Environmental Blog

Induction lighting is one of lifes great mysterys to me. When the lighting application requires the performace of HID or metal halide bulbs only induction lighting can measure up. LEDs are great but in scenarios where lots of light is required they dont measure up. Not to mention induction lamps will last for 100,000 hours which is incredible. It won't be long before residential lights are offered from companies such as this http://www.trirlighting.com
