An Israeli company is reducing pollution and producing energy with the help of cow shit. Thats right cow shit is now a viable source for "green" energy. Who would have ever thought the power of brown could transform to the power of green. Certainly the greenhouse gases that emit from the cow shit could be used to generate electricity for thousands. Why aren't we doing this in the US? I think there are a lot of projects on the drawing board...but it takes some serious investors to get the ball rolling. We all know that the US has plenty of cow and hog shit to power the entire North American continent with all those hog shit lagoons over in the Carolinas...so why we haven't we followed suit? Well hopefully this Israeli project will serve as a model example of how to turn brown into green...in more than one way :)
Update 3/5/2008: An energy company in California has now harnessed the power of
cow dung for natural gas pipelines.
