Fox News Attacks the Environment

I just recieved an update from The Sierra Club organization about Fox News. Apparently The Sierra Club is campaigning in trying to raise awareness on the tactics that Fox News uses to misinform the public with regards to Global Warming.

In the press release, they link to a website called FoxAttacks.com which has a very sweet video that I've also embedded below. You can also sign a petition that is trying to get companies that claim to be environmentally friendly such as Home Depot and yet still advertise on Fox News. Essentially, this whole issue is about boycotting Fox News and anyone who supports it. I personally hate Fox News, or any national news network for that matter...because in my opinion, they feed nothing but lies and misinformation in general with regards to major two sided issues...and also because Bill O' Riley is on that channel...enough said.

According to The Sierra Club:

"In recent months, presidential candidates John Edwards, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bill Richardson, and Chris Dodd have all refused to appear in Fox-sponsored debates because of the increasing consensus that Fox is not a legitimate news organization."

So I urge you fellow readers to support this cause and also try to consider watching CNN or getting your news from me instead of Fox...haha, but seriously if you like my blog please sign up for email updates on the sidebar. Also if you haven't watched it, I recommend a very good documentary on the Fox News Network called OutFoxxed. If you have Netflix, you can order it there, but if you don't look it up and consider watching it...if you happen to still be reading but love Fox News...reconsider your opinion about them after watching OutFoxxed. Cheers.

i swear, i have never seen so much hate for a news channel just because they offer a differing opinion then CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, and ABC. it's as if anyone that dosen't have the same opinion then the left-leaning networks just doesn't have the right to speak. pretty soon the first amendment is going to be on the chopping block.

In my opinion, the media has a responsibility to show the news. Fox News slogan is "Fair and Balanced News", however, they are FAR from fair and balanced! Seriously Stormin, have you watched the Documentary called OutFoxxed. Your opinion will change about Fox News once you watch that film. Before I watched it, all I ever thought of Fox News was that they were right wing conservatives that I would rather not watch because it differed from my own views. However, after watching OutFoxxed...I outright hate that channel, please give the other side a chance and watch the film.

i've never even heard of the documentary which goes to show how mainstream it must be and apparently nobody else has heard of it either. FOX news is always at the top of evening ratings list for prime time cable news channels. there's plenty of media outlets to choose from to get your news. MSNBC has got to be the farthest to the left of news coverage (chris matthews and keith olbermann) but nobody's calling for it to be pulled from the airwaves.

Thats exactly my point, the film OutFoxxed is not mainstream because it contains Information from people who worked there that portray the news agency as a media outlet that is far from Fair and Balanced. They dictate news...and are not objective in any way. I am not advocating one news agency or another...because I don't watch news on television. All I am saying is that you consider looking at the other side on this issue before you defend a corporation that may be contrary to your opinions. Oh and who cares about ratings...ratings don't mean that Fox News is still LYING to everyone.

JT, do you really think that CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, and ABC are completely honest and un-biased in their news reporting? you don't think that they don't have an agenda or an ideaological slant that they don't promote over another? of course they do! but nobodys demanding that they be shut down and taken off the air. let the public choose who they want to believe and get their news from.

I will agree with you that all those news agencies are not completely honest, but that is why I dont watch any of them...I don't even have cable television. And of course I agree with you that they promote agendas...they are all the same to me...but there are certain blatant lies that come out of news media that should be accounted for.

Local, city, county, state and the federal governments should be first to "go green." Politicians should not be elected to public office unless they agree to convert every government building and vehicle to renewable energy. There are at least three reasons why this should be so.

When all levels of government are taken into account, they control 40% of the economy. With that kind of economic incentive anyone who wants to sell to the government will hasten to meet the demands of its largest single buyer. Government will no longer have to pass laws to enforce cafe standards for instance. Rather the Government will simply tell auto companies, we want to replace our fleet of vehicles but will not buy anything that does get at least 50 mpg if it is gasoline based, or it must be a hybrid, or it must be fueled with renewable fuels.

Another reason Government should go green first is national security. Part of every oil dollar paid for Middle Eastern oil goes directly into the pocket of terrorists. If we convert to renewable fuels that we control, we defund terrorism and protect ourselves simultaneously.

Yet another reason to heed Al Gore’s clarion call on global warming is economic security. OPEC can not ruin our economy if we convert to renewable fuels that we control.

And finally, suppose Gore is right? When anyone hypes anything as much as AL Gore hypes global warming, I have my doubts. But I can’t see what is harmed by going green so why not? The military is doing some research on alternative and renewable energy. Whoever is the next president of the United States should institute a “Go Green or Go Home” policy for the military. Those who come up with energy saving devices or methods as well as those who implement alternative or renewable fuels should rise quickly through the ranks. Those who don’t should be encouraged to seek employment elsewhere. As resourceful as marines are, for instance, I would bet they could make surprising advances in fueling everything from jeeps to an entire base through alternative means if left to their own devices. The military has through it’s contractors developed the most effective weapons in the world. If this same level of effort is turned toward greening the military we will be a safer, more secure, and more independent nation. We will create new jobs and industries and the air and water will get cleaner as a benefit.

Poetry, thanks for your comment, I agree with you completely on your comments and points. Our government should go green and there are plenty incentives to do so...unfortunately I believe that there are too many corporations that fund a political sides and so we have bought out government truly being run by corporations...this may not be the case for all our elected officials but certainly for some. This is slowing down the transition to a "green society" but the trend is still improving slowly and I believe that awareness is being raised as much as possible through the internet as well as activists and organizations. Thanks for reading this post and please come back :)

Oh please stormin, you are severly misinformed then. You're saying that it is the fault of the several other listed networks for having an opinion, but its poor fox news that is all alone and is having its first amendment stripped? So ridiculous. The purpose of the news is to report news in a manner that does not represent the bureucratic society we live in, as Rupert Murdoch has implemented at Fox News. Our government is best represented by Fox News, which we all know is representative of spurring false news stories such as the Iraq War and environmental issues. If you were truly after real news, you wouldn't watch any network and certainly not Fox, the worst out there
