Possible Ban on Wind Energy… Why?

Special Thanks to www.neutralexistance.com: http://www.neutralexistence.com/blog/2007/05/possible-ban-on-wind-energy/

Just got an email about an urgent topic with permission to re-post to spread the word:

Hey Friend,

I just wanted to write a quick email to let you know about an
awful bill that just might get passed unless we do something
about it.

Basically there is a proposed bill that would stop all wind
electricity production until "certain" provisions are made
to stop any bird deaths.

Now here is the thing, I do not condone bird deaths, however
the fact is wind turbines only account for about .003% of
bird deaths, that's nothing compared to the greater harm
done to our nations wildlife caused by burning coal and
other fossil fuels.

Please take a minute out of your day and take a look at the
provisions of this bill and then sign the petition to stop
this madness. If you look closely, it is only a ploy to put
more money in the pockets of the oil companies. If it wasn't
then these provisions would be extended to all forms of
energy and not just clean wind energy.

thanks for listening, here is the link:

Idiots. Short-sighted puppets. Greedy fools. Invest in petroleum and supporting industries. There is constant and increasing demand. Don't let any other source of energy be developed, supported or executed...it will then lessen demand for petroleum, decrease it's value. Decrease their "profit." Greedy idiots. Have you seen this?

Thanks for your help. This is a big deal. Just to give some perspective, we and others have been working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for about 3 years now to set up a formal process to review their existing guidelines for wind farms, and the first meeting has yet to be held, due to all of the legal hoops and hurdles they must deal with. Certification would be a much more complex process, and the idea of banning all new wind farm construction until certification is up and running is totally off the wall. The legislation as written is really a backdoor way to destroy the industry.

More background information, including our written testimony on the bill (we were not asked to testify on it in person) and a list of state wind siting regulations already in place, here. To take action to oppose this misguided legislation, go here.

Thank you so much for your response, this is obviously a message that needs to get out to more people so that we can all act together to prevent this back door legislation from passing. Thanks for the links, I will research these today and hopefully do a follow up blog post. :)
