China Creates Artificial Snowfall in Tibet

cloud seedingChina has successfully created artificial snow in Tibet using modern weather modification techniques. The process works by seeding the clouds with silver iodide, which has a cooling effect. Officials in China are worried that global warming will cause the Himalayas to melt and create widespread drought. They view artificial snowfall as a possible way to thwart off drought.

Cloud seeding is a controversial issue with activists that fear loading up the atmosphere with silver and other chemicals can pollute the earth, air, and water. Cloud seeding is favored in the United States by the National Weather Modification Association.
