The German Chancellor Merkel is set on promoting Global Warming in a big way. Some say that her mission is two fold, due to the fact that she is a former physicist and environmental minister. She has a double presidency as president of the European Union and also for the G8 group of industrialized nations. Some say she is also motivated because an opportunity to spotlight her profile is available by convincing the United States to sign a successor of the kyoto protocol for when it expires in 2012.
