500+ Pelican Deaths in Costa Rica

brown pelican
The mysterious death of 500 brown pelicans struck the country of Costa Rica last week. Scientists have ruled out bird-flu since bird-flu usually strikes migratory birds, in which, Pelicans have stable permanent colonies. It will take days to figure out what has caused the deaths. One can only wonder what the real reason is, but it frightens me to learn that mass deaths of animals are continuing around the world and nobody seems to be publishing the real reasons why these animals are dying.

This trend will continue to baffle scientists who aren’t prepared to tell the world that because of human activities, more and more species will become endangered and then extinct. Scientists must speak out and let the public know that changing climate conditions and the effect that pollution has on the environment is killing off the Earth’s species. This may not affect us now, but the problem will snowball into a greater problem in the near future.
